A Vintage Boho Unicorn Birthday Party!

Anyone who knows me and has been to any parties I throw, know I spend an embarrassing amount of time preparing and planning them. I’m also known to get a little high stress the day of, sorry husband, I’m working on it!

We celebrated my daughter’s third birthday unicorn style. I was inspired to do a unicorn themed party because of my daughters love for them! Somewhere after her second birthday, she fell in love with the idea of unicorns. I didn’t want a typical unicorn party, where a pastel color palette and glitter is scattered about, although I think they’re adorable! I wanted to go with something a little more sophisticated and timeless, with a bohemian twist. That’s when the vintage-boho-unicorn-party was born! Working with a budget, we ain’t no Rockefeller’s, most of what I bought was thrifted or on sale! Thank you, Hobby Lobby sales and facebook marketplace! We threw the party in our barn my husband and his dad built (they are pretty talented, I must say!) Overall, the party was a fun success, memories were made, and good food was eaten with good people.

At the bottom of this blog, I’ll link the brands and vendors!

For food, we went with a little pancake bar/brunch foods! We made pancakes, scrambled eggs, chicken & polenta, bacon, and displayed a gorgeous and yummy fruit tray! For sweets, we did the most adorable chocolate covered unicorn strawberries, a coconut cake with coconut cream frosting (a guilt free way for my toddler and other littles to enjoy cake!), cinnamon rolls, and macarons!

Party favors are my favorite things! We did “Unicorn Tub Tea” that was a hit! I like to keep my party favors practical, and still fitting with the theme. For my Unicorn Tub Tea, here is how I made it-

Unicorn Tub Tea

  1. Epsom Salts

  2. Baking Soda

  3. Dried Calendula

  4. Dried Lavender

  5. Dried Chammomile

Use 1/2C-1C Epsom salts, and a few tablespoons of all other ingredients per party favor. Mix ingredients or layer them. (I layered them in a glass jar and attached a “tea bag” they could use to steep their tea in their bath water.)

I really am pretty horrible at taking photos as the party goes on, because I am busy being present! So, I like to have a little area set up that I can get photos of family and friends with the birthday girl! This makes me feel less bad about not taking any additional photos throughout the party! For our setup, I used a peacock chair as the main peice and dressed it with some greenery, put some party balloons and a letter board next to it, and hung a macrame piece for somewhat of a backdrop.
